CNC Spindle Repair Process1) Processing
Spindle HousingWhen a spindle enters our repair process it is immediately photographed, tagged with the customer’s information, and assigned a traveler. From there, spindles are disassembled piece by piece and the spindle repair process begins. 2) Evaluation and InspectionSpindle Housing and End Caps. Spindle's housings are inspected inside and out. We inspect and record inter-bearing surfaces and check for wear. End caps are treated the same way.
Spindle Drive Pulley Spindle Pulleys. The inside diameter of the pulley is inspected, recorded and compared to the main shaft’s outside diameter. 
Spindle End Cap Spindle's Main Shaft. Once the main shaft is removed from the housing all bearing surfaces are recorded and compared to the spindle main shaft outside diameters. 
Spindle Spacer Spindle Spacers, Collar Locks, and Seals. All spindle spacers, collar locks, and seals are inspected and noted by brand and size, assuring the proper replacement components are ordered correctly. Spindle Taper. Once the outside of the spindle shaft is evaluated, the taper is then inspected for tool engagement. 
Spindle Main Shaft 3) Making RepairsThere are several processes involved in a repair. The main four are: (1) hard chroming, (2) grinding, (3) re-machining and (4) replacing the bearings.Hard Chroming is used to build a surface up so that we can grind it back down to the original dimension. Parts that typically require hard chroming have surfaces related to the bearings; both the inner (main shaft) and outer (housing) bearings. Grinding is one of the most accuracy types of machining and uses an abrasive wheel to change a surface or dimension on metallic work piece. A repair and rebuild often require all phases hard chroming, grinding, re-machining and reassembling. 4) Rebuilding and Returning the SpindleWe reassemble your spindle in a controlled environment to assure the integrity of the processor. When we have completed the repairs and rebuild of your spindle we return your like new precision spindle. Our goal is to achieve or surpass your spindles original performance |
